Settlement Scheme

If you or a family member are a citizen of an EU or EEA country who started living in the UK by 31 December 2020, you may be able to apply to the free EU Settlement Scheme.

Please note that although the deadline of the 30 June 2021 has now passed, you may still be able to apply if:

• You are joining a family member who was living in the UK by 31 December 2020
• You can prove that you have reasonable grounds to support that you were unable to apply by the 30 June 2021

Citizenship

You can apply for citizenship if you have obtained settled status in the UK and have lived in the UK for 12 months after getting it.

Note that you can no longer apply for citizenship based on your permanent residence status. You must wait and apply for citizenship with your settled status. You can however count the time you had permanent status towards the 12 months you need to wait to apply for citizenship with your settled status.
