Start-up Visa 

Start- up visa is’ for people seeking to establish a business in the UK for the first time. Applicants will have an innovative, viable and scalable business idea which is supported by an endorsing body. This category offers leave for 2 years and does not lead directly to settlement in the UK.’

Before a start-up visa application is made, you should:

  • Have the business proposal, or the business idea.
  • Have the business assessed by an endorsing body who will provide you with an endorsement letter. The endorsing body should be either a UK higher education institution or a business organisation with an established track record of supporting UK entrepreneurs.

 

The proposed business idea should be new, innovative and scalable.

 

Other requirements

All applicants must be aged 18 or over

You should be able to provide proof of knowledge of English to a minimum Level B2 CEFR unless you are from an English-speaking country as defined in the immigration rules.

The applicant should meet the maintenance requirement and must have at least 945 GBP for a consecutive period of 90 days unless the endorsing body is certifying the maintenance.

 

Duration of stay

You can stay for 2 years in the UK under the start-up visa. The visa cannot be extended. You may be able to switch to an Innovator visa after the 2 years.
