Intra-company Transfers (ICT)

The Intra-Company Transfer Worker replaced Tier 2 (ICT) on 1 December 2020 and is for those looking to be transferred to work for the same group of company or branch.

Intra-company transfer visas are for those who have worked for an overseas company and are now willing to work for the same company’s UK branch.

There are 2 types of ICT visa:

  • Intra-company Transfer

For foreign employees of international companies who are being transferred to the UK

  • Intra-company Graduate Trainee

For foreign workers being transferred to the UK company as part of a structured graduate training programme

Requirements

The main applicant will have to show that he or she:

  • Has a job offer
  • Has a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) assigned to him/her
  • Will fill a role that is at the relevant skill level (typically NQF level 6 or above) and will be paid the appropriate salary.
  • Personally meet the financial maintenance requirement unless the maintenance is certified by the employer.
  • Has a TB certificate if residing in a country where the TB certificate is required

Length of stay

The length of the stay depends on the visa type and the salary that the employee will be paid and generally it will be the time given on your Certificate of Sponsorship plus 14 days and to a cumulative maximum (including extension) of:

  • 12 months for graduate trainees
  • 5 years in any 6-year period if you’re paid less than £73,900 a year
  • 9 years in any 10-year period if you’re paid £73,900 a year or more

Dependants

The employee can bring family members and dependants with him to the UK whilst on assignment in the UK.

Settlement

Intra-company transfer visa does not lead to settlement. If you are on an ICT visa, you can switch to a different visa, for example, to a Skilled Worker visa, which lead to settlement.
