Short-term Study

The short-term study route is for those potential students looking to come to the UK to complete a short course of study in English language.

Main requirements

You must show that:

• You have a place on a course in the UK at an accredited institution;
• You meet the financial requirements without working or having recourse to public funds;
• You can pay for you return journey;
• You are aged 16 or older.

If you are under 18 years of age you will have to show that:

• You have undertaken all the arrangements for your travel and stay in the UK; and
• You have permission form your parent or guardian to study in the UK.

Duration of stay in the UK
If you are coming on an English course, you can stay in the UK for up to 11 months.

You are however not permitted to work, study at a state school or receive public funds.
